The Nuffield Foundation
The Design Council is the national body for design with a remit to encourage excellence in design and technology teaching. Current initiatives include Designers into Schools Week, which gives secondary schools the opportunity to work closely with professional designers.
The Council is also preparing a future strategy that focuses on supporting teachers to develop innovative approaches to designing in schools. The tools, methods and approaches that result from the strategy will aim not only to make an impact on design and technology but to have wider application for learning across the whole curriculum, fostering in pupils the high level thinking skills which will equip them to participate in a 21st century knowledge economy.
The Design Council is based at 34 Bow Street, London WC2E 7DL and you can visit the website at www.design-council.org.uk/
