Engineering Council (UK)

ecuklogoThe Engineering Council (UK) promotes and regulates the engineering profession in the UK.

The Engineering Council, now the Engineering Council (UK), supported with QCA during 2000–2002 a series of seminars to discuss emerging issues, including those arising from three major reports the Council had commissioned: Design and technology in a knowledge economy (Kimbell and Perry, 2001); The continuum of design education for engineering (Harrison, 2001) and Interaction: the relationship between science and design & technology in the secondary school curriculum (Barlex and Pitt, 2000).

More recently the Engineering Council (UK) has supported investigations into assessment (with the Royal Society of Arts and Goldsmiths College) and a pilot project which follows from the Interaction Report (with Brunel University and Sheffield Hallam University).

The Engineering Technology Board is also expected to be active in this area. There will be a separate entry for the ETB in this section.

The Engineering Council (UK) is based at 246 High Holborn, London, WC1V 7EX and you can visit its website at www.engc.org.uk/ or email Ruth Wright at rwright@engc.org.uk.
