The Nuffield Design & Technology view is that links to other subjects will not happen accidentally. If you want your students to use what they have learned in other subjects, you will need to plan carefully to ensure that this happens. In order to make this manageable, our approach is to identify a Capability Task which is suitable for linking to one particular subject and plan the teaching of this task so that the use of the subject is integral to the success of the designing and making activity.
Obviously you will need to liaise with the teachers of the subject concerned, if only to make sure that the content of the other subject has already been taught. It is worth discussing with them the use you want to make of this content and compare the vocabulary used.
